What Is a "Mulatto"?
A Mulatto is a mixed race, making up of both Black and White, where the blood lineages are quite close together percentage wise.
How "Mulattoes" came about
Mulatto people are a pretty big mixed race population wise due to blacks mixing with whites, mostly the West African slaves who were sent to the Caribbean, and South America to be slaves. Mingling happened, and you got Mulattoes.
Where are "Mulattoes" found?
Mulattoes make up of countries mostly in the Caribbean, and a few South American countries. They are not the majority in many counties, but they are present in almost ever Caribbean countries, mostly being the 2nd or 3rd most populous race. In Brazil they make up a huge population as well, but not he majority. At the end of 2012, Mulattoes made up the majority (most people of that race, not necessarily over 50%) of these countries;
- Dominican Republic - 70%
- Cayman Islands - 40%
- French Guinea - 30-50%
- Montserrat - N/A
- Saba - N/A
What Do "Mulattoes" Look Like?
Because Mulatto is a mixed race, there features vary heavily; but not quite as much as Mestizos because compared to Indigenous Americans, Blacks and Whites have a similar head shape, and eye shape. Most people would say they lean towards there black side more.
- Skin: Skin can range greatly, although Mulatto people generally have a brown skin tone, and lean towards there black side more. But some Mulattoes have pretty pale skin.
- Eyes: Most have pretty round eyes, and brown eyes as well. Although in some cases they have blue, or even green eyes.
- Head Shape: Generally a taller head, not as wide head. Things like cheekbones range drastically. Although most do not have high cheekbones.
- Nose: The black nose gene seems to win the battle here much more. Generally Mulattoes have wider noses, and flatter noses as well. But it's not impossible for them to have smaller, and pointier noses either.
- Lips: Like the nose, the black gene wins most of the battles. Mulattoes generally have fuller lips like most black people.
- Hair: It's very rare for a Mulatto person to have bone straight hair... most Mulatto people have coily hair that is looser then fully black people, how ever still coily. But it's also common to have hair that is curly, medium-sized curls. Mulattoes also generally have soft-black hair, which is when the hair appears brown under sun light, but black in any other situation.
